Why does the cat's eyes water?

The most frequent treatment of cats in veterinary clinics are watery eyes. There are certain types of cats that are sloping to the appearance of a similar problem due to the characteristics of the breed. But there are a number of reasons why the cat has watery eyes.

Inflammation of the eyes in cats

Inflammations can begin because of several reasons:

Cat sneezes and watery eyes

To examine the eyes of an animal, wash your hands thoroughly. Carefully look closely, whether there are in the eyes of purulent discharge, various swelling or redness. If you find pus, immediately lead the cat to the veterinarian - this is a sign of a serious infection and you do not have to waste time.

If a cat often sneezes and watery eyes, and around the eyes there are swelling, these are signs of an allergy or cold. Allergies can be caused by chemicals or pollen.

If pus you did not find, injuries too, try to rinse the eyes of the animal with tea tea leaves. Brew very strong tea and let it cool. Dampen the cotton swab in the brew and wipe the eyes of the cat. Instead of brewing, you can purchase special means for eye hygiene in the pharmacy.

If you find signs of a viral infection, immediately lead the cat into the vet. Most often the cat has conjunctivitis and keratitis. Both diseases in the absence of treatment will lead to loss of vision. In this case, self-medication can be really dangerous.

If you notice only increased lacrimation, and the veterinarian has not detected any diseases, this may be an inherent feature.

Abundant lacrimation can be caused by several factors: liver disease, worms, allergies. First, give the cat a drug from the worms. Then hold the animal for a while on the mono-diet. For example, three days you can feed the cat only chicken, then in the absence of improvements, remove the chicken and replace it with beef. By this method, you determine which the product causes allergies, if any. If the food does not affect lacrimation, it is better to conduct a cat survey.

The Persian cat has watery eyes

Virtually every Persian owner wonders why the cat has watery eyes. First of all it can be connected with the structure of tear ducts: in cats of this breed they are either very narrow or poorly developed. More abundant lacrimation occurs during the period of active growth of the animal. After the animal is fully formed, this problem goes by itself. In very rare cases, the cat has plenty of tearing left for life.
