Worms in the dog - symptoms and treatment

Infection of the dog's body with internal parasites is so common that worms can appear even in an absolutely domestic animal that rarely visits the street. According to veterinarians, about 80-90% of dogs suffer from worms. Consider the main symptoms and treatment of worms in dogs.

Symptoms of defeat

To begin with, it should be said that for a long time the infection with worms may not have any symptoms at all, moreover, even stool tests conducted in clinics can give a negative result, although the worms will be in the dog's body. The thing is that parasites can live not only in the intestines, but also in other organs of the animal. In particular, the treatment of dogs with symptoms of pulmonary or cardiac worms is not rare now. Therefore, many veterinarians favor prophylactic treatment from parasites of dogs at least once a year.

Nevertheless, there are some signs that parasitic infection of the pet can be suspected. Firstly, it is, of course, eggs and adult parasites in the feces of an animal. If the dog has an unstable chair, or after a toilet, it takes a long time to get a booty on the floor or the ground - this is another reason to be on the alert.

Glistov, which affected the internal organs, can be identified by the deterioration of the state of the dog, lack of appetite, vomiting or hiccup after eating. Or vice versa, a good appetite with a general weight loss to the animal and a painful appearance. Also a symptom of infection with worms are various skin lesions, dermatitis.

Methods of treatment

The treatment of worms often occurs with the help of special preparations that are selected depending on the age, weight and breed of the dog. From these factors depends the dosage and frequency of admission, as well as the form of release. So, for puppies, usually produce helminth in the form of sweet suspensions, and for older dogs - in the form of tablets without taste and smell. The most effective and popular in the fight against worms are the following drugs: Drontal Plus, Azinox Plus, Prazitsid, Pratel, Kanikvantel, Trialem.

There are also some variants of folk remedies for treating the symptoms of worms in dogs. However, they are often questionable. So, often experienced breeders offer to make the dog an enema made of milk with the addition of dry tansy and garlic. Such a remedy can act in case of infection by parasites of the dog's intestines, but its effectiveness in the long term is quite low, soon the worms may reappear. Another option is to give the dog half or a whole glass of vodka, focusing on its size and weight. This method is very doubtful and can even harm your pet.
