On average, a modern person smiles 7 times a day, and his teeth are often visible to others. By nature, their enamel is semi-transparent in most people, and the dentin hidden beneath it is white, but under the influence of bad habits, lifestyle and nutrition, the enamel changes and turns yellow.
To avoid this, it is necessary to find out the reasons why the teeth become yellow, and what to do about it.
How do teeth turn yellow?
There are two different processes, as a result of which the tooth enamel turns yellow:
- on it a raid is formed;
- the very color of the enamel changes.
Yellow plaque on the teeth is formed as a result:
- smoking tobacco in cigarettes, cigars and through hookah;
- excessive use of beverages containing caffeine (for example: coffee or tea);
- very frequent eating of sweets, especially chocolate, and sugar-containing products;
- non-observance of dental hygiene, because if you do not clean them daily, then there is a buildup of plaque that will gradually be absorbed into the enamel and then it will be more difficult to get rid of it.
The enamel becomes yellow as a result of the fact that:
- The water used for cooking and drinking is saturated with minerals;
- you took antibiotics or strong medicines, for example: tetracycline;
- there are natural age changes that lead to cracking and further discoloration;
- there is a multiple change of diets, yellowing can be a reaction of the body to such changes in the diet;
- the pulpal area of the tooth is damaged, it can occur after a stroke and any other trauma;
- work is associated with heavy metals and their vapors, and this affects the health of all organs.
Separately, we must say that when wearing braces on the teeth may appear yellow spots, where they come into contact with the enamel. This problem can only be solved with the attending physician.
How to restore the whiteness of teeth?
Yellow teeth can be removed in several ways.
In the dental office:
- manual or ultrasonic cleaning ;
- professional bleaching agents.
At home:
- abrasive whitening paste;
- gels of deep action;
- bleaching strips;
- dressed for several hours in cases;
- folk remedies - soda, hydrogen peroxide , lemon juice, activated charcoal or wood ash;
- maintaining a certain diet and getting rid of the habit of smoking.
But it is better not to bring your teeth to yellowing, because it will be enough to visit a regular dentist, brush your teeth twice a day and limit the use of sweets, coffee and tea.
