Hibiscus - propagation by cuttings

Hibiscus belong to the genus of deciduous and evergreen herbaceous plants, numbering more than 300 species. In the natural environment, they live in the subtropics, in a temperate climate only Syrian, triple and hibiscus garden plants can grow. As for Chinese hibiscus, in our latitudes it is able to grow only as a houseplant with summer vacations on the street.

To start planting a plant, you need to know how to propagate hibiscus cuttings - this is the most simple and effective method. Further care is quite possible even for a beginner floriculturist.

How to grow hibiscus from a handle?

To produce the reproduction of hibiscus with cuttings, it is necessary to cut cuttings from an adult plant with 2-3 internodes. They should not be lignified, the length should be about 8-12 cm.

Rooting of hibiscus cuttings occurs without much difficulty, about a month. You can use cuttings for rooting in a light substrate, pretreating the lower part of the cut with a growth stimulator. And you can try multiplying hibiscus cuttings in the water. Only for this you need not hybrid, but ordinary non-root plants.

Before planting the cuttings in the substrate, examine it, shorten the half-too-large leaves. In prepared half-liter pots, pour in the prepared soil for hibiscuses. By the way, you can prepare it yourself, for this you need to take leaf and sod land in equal proportions and mix them with sand.

Groove the appendage by 1.5-2 cm, ground with your fingers and observe the constant moisture of the soil. To accelerate rooting, hibiscus should be covered with glass or transparent film, forming a mini-greenhouse. As far as rooting, the greenhouse needs to be opened a little, airing the plant.
