Baguette for stretch ceilings

Stretch ceilings deservedly gained popularity in the decor of the apartment. They are inexpensive, easy to clean and have a lot of stylistic solutions. To install the construction requires a number of devices, but one of the main is a baguette for stretch ceilings. It depends on it, a beautiful and smooth ceiling covering.

The installation frame or baguette is the basis of the ceiling design. The canvas, made on the basis of personal measurements, is fixed with a harpoon into the mounting baguette. Installation of ceilings is carried out by specialized teams that have access to gas and electrical equipment. When installing the ceiling, a special perforator is used, sucking dust from the walls.

Classification of baguettes

Depending on the material of the production, the baguettes are of aluminum and plastic. Both types of baguettes are fire-resistant, do not emit harmful substances and perfectly tolerate temperature changes. These qualities are considered very important in the installation of the ceiling, as one of the stages of work is heating the film at high temperatures, as a result of which many materials can melt. The only difference between baguettes is that aluminum baguette for stretch ceilings is more expensive than plastic because of the greater strength of the material. Such a baguette is used mainly for heavy linen and is quickly mounted.

Depending on the place of attachment, the baguettes are divided into three types:

  1. Wall frame for stretch ceilings . Very often the ceiling is fixed to the walls with this baguette. The most popular is the plastic baguette for stretch ceilings. It is more durable than aluminum, it is easy to handle, it fits snugly against the bends of the walls.
  2. Ceiling frame for stretch ceilings . Used in cases where it is required to bypass cornices, installed wardrobe-compartments to the ceiling or stretch the ceiling a short distance from the main ceiling. The groove of the baguette is closed with an inset or decorative cover along the perimeter of the ceiling.
  3. Separating baguette for stretch ceilings . Applied with a combination of several materials, if necessary, stretch the ceiling of a large area. The baguette has two grooves in which the PVC film is refilled. Separating baguette is needed when installing multi-level ceilings.

Depending on the type of ceiling and design of the room, the baguettes can be differently decorated. A narrow baguette, glued at the junction of the wall and ceiling, hides the joints of the film and the walls, and the wide PVC baguette for stretch ceilings attracts attention and complements the composition. Also, the baguettes are flat, which are attached to the wall under a stretch ceiling, and there are angled, which are fixed one side to the wall, the second - to the ceiling.

How to glue the baguettes to the ceiling?

Typically, the fastening of the baguette for stretch ceilings is performed with a screwdriver and a perforator. The gaps between the baguette and the wall are covered with a masking slit. When installing, leave 3-4 cm between the tension and the main ceiling. This gap will hide the signaling and communication lines. Before installing the baguette you need to reveal the lowest point of the ceiling of the apartment. To do this, you will need a laser tape measure, a rangefinder and a building level.

The tensioning sheet is inserted using one of two mounting systems: harpoon or blade. With the harpoon system, the canvas is fixed in a baguette by means of a harpoon. Such a ceiling in the future can be dismantled. With the blade system, the canvas is secured with a wedge, and the remainders are cut off. This system simplifies the measurement and production process (the web is made larger), but the installation of the tension web is more complicated. Also, this option eliminates the re-installation of the ceiling.
