Brown nipples

Throughout the life of a woman, her body undergoes significant changes. Including, often representatives of the fair sex notice that the nipples on the mammary glands have become brown, which was not previously observed. Such a situation can frighten a girl and cause her serious concern. In this article, we will try to find out whether this situation can really be dangerous, and what changes in a woman's life she can indicate.

Why do the nipples turn brown?

In the overwhelming majority of cases, the darkening of the nipples in women indicates their "interesting" position. It is during the waiting period for the baby that the most serious changes occur in the body of the expectant mother, which include pronounced hormonal fluctuations.

Meanwhile, a decrease or increase in the concentration of certain hormones in a woman's blood is possible for other reasons. So, the nipples can become light or dark brown under the influence of any diseases accompanied by hormonal failures, during the menopause, as well as when taking hormonal medications and, in particular, oral contraceptives.

Finally, unexpected or gradual darkening of the nipples and areola can provoke age-related changes, as well as hereditary causes. Thus, usually this circumstance does not indicate serious diseases occurring in the body of a woman, however, in exceptional cases it can indicate severe and dangerous ailments of the mammary glands.

That is why when changing the color of the nipples, you should, first of all, conduct a pregnancy test. As a rule, after some time after delivery, the situation is normalized, and all parts of the female body acquire a familiar shade. Nevertheless, some girls and after pregnancy, the color may remain the same or, for example, you can see a pink nipple with a brown areola.
