Parents of the future schoolchild always rightly care about the question - what they can and should do to ensure that their child at school is comfortable. Readiness for school is not determined only by the skills of reading, counting and writing. And, if to be extremely frank, the school has no right to refuse the child in training, if he does not have these skills yet. Just the school's task is to teach your crumbs all these tricks.
However, the situation of a child who is not ready for school days is rather difficult. Especially, given the fact that the vast majority of his classmates will be preparing for school.
Where to prepare a child for school?
Parents who want to help their son or daughter do not feel at school "white sheep", have two ways:
- Home preparation of the child for school.
- Special preparation of children for school with the help of professionals.
To prepare a child for school at home, you will not be too lazy to work out with a future student. Attention should be paid to the following points:
- development of the general outlook (frank conversations with the child "about life", reading of books with their subsequent discussion);
- the study of figures, letters, geometric figures, colors, the concepts "wide" and "narrow", "left" and "right", "big" and "small";
- the formation of the ability to read at least syllables;
- formation of the ability to count within ten and above;
- development of fine motor skills (dexterity of brushes and fingers);
- training memory by memorizing poems and songs;
- the development of the ability to analyze and classify (the child must learn to structure the story, identify cause and effect relationships in it, be able to collect the whole from disparate pictures, lay out objects on some basis).
If there is time and money, as well as the inability to prepare a child for school, the problem of preparing children for school can be independently handled by private teachers and psychologists. Some parents also give preference to early childhood development or preparatory courses (preferably at the school where the child will study).
Psychological preparation of children for school
It is important to remember that the level of preparation of children for school is also determined by psychological readiness, and not just by the stock of knowledge. And this psychological readiness has a number of components:
- communicative and social skills (the ability to communicate, understand and apply in everyday life the moral and moral norms adopted in the society where the child lives);
- the ability to find a common language with adults and peers;
- the ability to defend their position by civilized methods, without showing either inappropriate aggression or excessive fearfulness;
- understanding the meaning of the learning process in school, the importance of obtaining knowledge, the order of schooling;
- the ability to obey the established rules, the awareness of the need for discipline and an understanding of its essence;
- presence of positive motivation and desire to learn;
- the ability to work purposefully and on your own initiative to work on an assignment, plan your actions and be responsible for their consequences;
- positive attitude to yourself.
Physical preparation of children for school
Before entering the first grade, it would be very useful for the child to do sports to strengthen his immunity and improve his posture. The beginning of the school year becomes a serious test for physically unprepared children.
Classes in the sports section can give the child not only health, but also disciplinary skills. Fresh air, good nutrition and physical activity are the faithful helpers of the future schoolboy.
But the most important thing for your child will be self-confidence and parental support, no matter what happens in school.
