Cervical cancer - treatment

It is sad to realize that a disease that brings so much pain and suffering, but can be prevented by simple and regular actions, progresses with unthinkable speed. We often think: is cervical cancer treated or how to cure it, if such methods exist. And this is the worst thing that we, dear women, do not think about that:

Is cervical cancer treated?

The question of whether cervical cancer can be cured, every year becomes more relevant. And due to lost time, the answer is very rare. Namely, if it was possible to start treatment of cervical cancer at the initial stage. In modern medical practice, four stages of the disease are distinguished:

  1. The first or the initial. It is characterized by a small tumor size, the location is exclusively on the cervix. Treatment of cervical cancer at the very beginning gives a good chance of recovery.
  2. The second. The size and area of the cancer tumor increase, but it does not leave the mucous membrane. At this stage, cervical cancer, as well as the first, is quite appropriate.
  3. The third. The tumor extends to the third part of the vagina. Treatment of cervical cancer at this stage is difficult.
  4. Fourth. Education began to affect other organs of the body, metastasis is met. The course of treatment makes it possible to live for another five years only 10% of patients.

How is cervical cancer treated?

In addition to the stage of the disease, how to treat cervical cancer can affect the patient's age, desire to maintain reproductive function, and general health. Before the appointment, a woman must undergo a complete examination of the whole organism in order to have a clear picture of the disease. Taking into account all the attendant factors and the stage of the disease, the doctor chooses the most optimal and at the same time a safe method of treatment.

In general, the treatment options are divided into:

  1. In the first and second stages, surgical treatment of cervical cancer prevails. If there is such an opportunity, an organ-preserving tumor removal is used. When a woman encounters this disease during menopause - complete removal of the uterus, appendages and lymph nodes is performed.
  2. Radiation treatment of cervical cancer has established itself as an effective method.
  3. Chemotherapy is allowed in combination with other medications. It is often used in severe forms with the presence of metastases.

The question of the advisability of folk treatment of cervical cancer remains open. Medicine recognizes that some folk recipes contribute to a speedy recovery of the patient, having antitumor and fortifying effect. However, do not rely on such treatment: only competent oncologists are able to cope with this deadly disease, and even if time is not lost.
