History of the hotel from salt

Construction of the first salt hotel in Bolivia occurred in 1993-1995. It consisted of 12 double rooms and a shared bathroom. Despite such conditions and lack of shower, the hotel of salt was very popular with tourists. But over time, there was a problem with the removal of garbage, as the hotel was in the middle of a large desert. This led to serious pollution of the environment, so in 2002 the hotel of salt was dismantled.

In 2007, in the same place Bolivia was erected another hotel of salt, which is now known as the Palacio de Sal. On its construction, one million 35-centimeter salt blocks have left. Of these, walls, floors, ceilings, furniture and even sculptures were built. Sanitary system of the hotel was established in accordance with established rules.

How to get to the hotel from salt?

The hotel of salt is located in the south-western part of Bolivia, about 350 km from La Paz. In 20 km from it the airport of Hoya Andini is located, therefore the easiest way to get there is by plane. From La Paz to the salt desert 4-5 times a day fly the planes of the airlines Amaszonas and Boliviana de Aviacion. The flight duration is 45 minutes.
