Intellectual readiness of the child for school

Age does not belong to the fundamental factors that determine the readiness for schooling . Not the last place is allocated and intellectual readiness of the child-preschool child to school. It consists in the stock of a specific volume of knowledge, breadth of horizons and understanding of the simplest laws and obvious patterns.

At the preschooler to this age speech, spatial imagination, thinking, memory and logic should be sufficiently developed. Even in kindergarten, the child should be told about his family (the names of all its members, places of work, address of residence), the laws of the surrounding nature (seasons, names and order of months and days of the week, species of animals and plants). Such concepts that are obvious and simple for an adult person allow young researchers to find causes, effects, orient themselves both in space and time, and draw logical conclusions.

Diagnostics

Today there are dozens of methods for diagnosing the child's intellectual readiness for school, which are reduced to revealing the degree of maturity of thinking. The main parameters are four:

Purpose of diagnosis

Let's note at once that intellectual readiness for school training is determined not only with the purpose of revealing the level of preparation for school. Diagnosis is also necessary for individualization and rationalization of the learning process. Teachers should know how to model the learning process, taking into account the individual development factors of each junior schoolchild, to be able to select corrective tasks for children with low and, conversely, a sufficient level of development.

If to generalize, the school has a difficult task - to adjust or provide the child with what mom and dad missed at the appropriate age.
