Magnetic door lock

Distinctive qualities of the magnetic lock on the door are its reliability, quietness and ease of operation. In addition, the absence in the lock of such a structure of mechanisms and parts that move guarantees the durability of its operation. There are two main types of magnetic locks: passive and electromagnetic. Magnetic locks for interior doors , locker doors and various devices are passive locks that do not receive additional power and have a small holding force. More powerful magnetic locks on the entrance doors consist of a body with an electromagnet and a magnetically permeable back plate, which makes it impossible to open the doors without using a special key.

The principle of the magnetic lock is that, thanks to a rather powerful electric magnet that attracts a metal plate located on the door leaf, the door array is kept closed. To exit the room or get there, you need to press the input / output button to eliminate the electrical voltage from the device-lock.

Types of magnetic locks

Locks with magnetic latch

This type of door magnetic locks is used to fix the doors, lock the cabinets and fix the assemblies of the detachable technical structures. The magnetic latch includes a core and two permanent magnets in the form of rings, which are facing each other with opposite poles. In the closed position of the leaflet, the core interacts with both magnets. When the flaps are opened, the core is displaced, and the interaction between the magnets stops. Magnetic locks with a latch do not have protruding parts, however you can choose a product of any metallic color (chrome, bronze, etc.) depending on the taste of the owner of the dwelling. To install a door lock with a magnetic latch, after installing the first part of the latch, apply a small layer of plasticine to the door section. After the door is closed, you get an accurate print - the location for the second half of the device.

Mortise magnetic locks

Mortise locks are used in houses, apartments, offices, industrial premises, automatic gates where special burglar resistance of doors is required. A distinctive feature of the mortise locks is the outer bar, installed from the end of the door. Open or close the mortise magnetic locks possible with a key, pin or profile cylinder. To install a mortise magnetic lock at the end, an opening is made into which the device is inserted. In the door, the lock is held by means of a bracket, which is strictly individual for each lock. By the way of opening, the locks can be single-sided, opening the key on one side, and two-sided, which can be opened with a key on both sides of the door. The quietest locks are considered to be the most comfortable ones; they use a "tongue" in their design, interacting with the reverse bar only when the door is closed. Installation of the magnetic lock is better entrusted to the specialist, since special accuracy is required for the insert.

At emergency deenergizing the magnetic lock in itself is unlocked, that provides a problem-free evacuation. But the need for an uninterrupted power supply at the same time is also a drawback of an electromagnetic lock. When the mains is de-energized, the device loses the ability to lock the door, in connection with this it is desirable or provide for a quality uninterruptible power supply unit, or install a mechanical or electromechanical lock along with an electromagnetic one. This will prevent the door from opening in the event of a power failure.

When planning the installation of the magnetic lock, you should choose a well-proven manufacturer and quality fittings.
