Malay Technology Museum

In the capital of Brunei there is one unusual museum - Malay Technologies, which combines several aspects at once. On the one hand, it can be called historical, because exhibits from different eras are represented here. But, at the same time, much attention is paid to technological features in this or that sphere of life of Brunei. The excursion to this place will become not only very exciting, but also deeply cognitive.

What to see?

The Malay Technology Museum can be divided into three parts:

The first part includes expositions devoted to the peculiarities of life and life of individual Brunei tribes (Kedayan, Dayak, Murut, Dusun, etc.). Some of them still live in remote areas of the country (many tribal groups in Temburong), and there are some that have completely died out.

Handicraft halls are large exhibitions of folk crafts. Here you will see carefully arranged compositions with sculptures of different artisans (weavers, jewelers, blacksmiths) and objects of their labor. There are also many expositions connected with the life of the Brunei people on the water, which demonstrate how once the inhabitants of the river villages built their houses on piles and boats, and made fishing tackles.

The third part of the Malay Technology Museum is a continuation of the story of the inhabitants of Brunei. Here, all the secrets of resourceful artisans, fishermen and builders are revealed. In the format of thematic compositions it is shown which technologies and methods were used by representatives of various professions in their work.
