Legend

Onsen Arima surrounds many legends. One of the legends tells us that the healing spring was found by the deities of Kamisama. They noticed the wounded birds, who, having bathed in the waters of the onsen Arima, again became healthy. The real glory descended on the source in the 6th-7th centuries, when the Japanese emperors and their families came here to rest and improve their health. Later Onsen was abandoned and forgotten, but again began to visit in the middle of IX century. thanks to the monk Gyoki.

Source at different times

In 1097, Arima destroyed a major flood. The source and the adjacent territory were restored in 1192 by the Buddhist monk Ninsay. A significant contribution to the development of the health resort was made by the commander Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was resting here after another military campaign. Today onsen Arima is a favorite vacation spot for residents of the nearby cities of Osaka and Kobe.
