Parsley - planting and care

The summer diet is difficult to imagine without salads or other dishes with fresh herbs. Traditionally on our tables you can find parsley. It is appreciated not only for its excellent taste qualities and characteristic aroma, but also useful properties.

Dates of planting parsley

Sow parsley can be in several different terms. Sowing parsley in spring can begin in the very beginning of April, as soon as frosts go away. Some prefer to grow for the winter from late October to early November. You can start sowing even in the summer from the end of June to the beginning of July.

The time for planting parsley depends largely on the goals that you pursue. Summer sowing is usually done for the purpose of selling in early May for the next season. The fact is that summer sowing avoids a large amount of waste during storage.

If you want as soon as possible to please your home with luscious greens, you will get a landing for the winter. At the same time, the work is complicated by weather conditions, so that the beds are prepared about a month before planting and then the seeds are sown directly into the frozen soil. In winter, you can plant parsley on the seedlings, as this will make it possible immediately after the onset of heat to plant the finished bundles of greens in the ground. Do this in February, as a bed suitable for ordinary pots.

Sowing parsley in spring is the most popular option among summer residents and land owners. Here the risk of germination of seeds during frosts is maximally excluded, because then the crops will not be lost. You can plant parsley both in the open ground and in the greenhouse.

Planting parsley in the greenhouse

Two methods are used: seed and root from a root crop. Before planting parsley with the help of seeds, they are soaked in moist gauze for at least five days. The temperature should be at room temperature. As soon as the seeds germinate, they are kept for ten days in wet gauze at a temperature of 2 ° C. This method yields a crop of one and a half kilograms from each square meter, and the first shoots will appear a week after the landing.

Planting parsley by forcing out root vegetables and caring for it is a little more difficult. Root crops are also kept at a temperature of 2 ° C, but already in sand. Further planted in prepared grooves, pre-watered.

The prepared root crops should be at an angle of no more than 45 ° at a distance of approximately 6 cm. It is important that the head and neck remain untouched by the ground. 45 days after landing, you will see a ready harvest. Although the process is more laborious, but to collect from each square meter you will manage up to six kilograms of greenery.

Planting parsley in the ground

Before planting parsley in the country, it is better to withstand the seeds in a humid environment for a while to get through. Here you can act in the same way as when preparing seeds for greenhouses. The plot for sowing is also prepared in advance. To plant parsley and care for it should prepare a sandy soil with a high content of nutrients.

To work begin in the autumn, when they make a digging. In this case, humus or manure is added, superphosphates and potassium chloride. In the spring necessarily add ammonium nitrate and superphosphate . Such preparation before planting parsley seeds will allow to achieve good results and abundant harvest.

If you want to get a quality harvest, choose places in the garden, where cabbage, cucumbers or potatoes grew before. If you want to plant root parsley, choose a place where the beet grew earlier. After the emergence of sprouts, they must be broken at intervals of up to 4 cm. Always loosen the ground as soon as the rains pass. Watering for parsley is not particularly important, but you can periodically water the beds in the evening.
