Polyps in the gallbladder - treatment

Polyps are benign formations that appear on the mucous membranes of internal organs, including in the gall bladder. To date, from 4 to 6% of the population suffer from this disease, and the highest risk group is women over 30 (about 80%).

Causes and symptoms of the disease

At the moment, there is no single cause of polyps in the gallbladder. Most often they appear due to metabolic disorders and excess cholesterol, associated with excessive consumption of fatty and fried foods, and hereditary factors also influence. Polyps can also develop as a complication in cholelithiasis, hepatitis, chronic inflammation of the gallbladder and other diseases.

The most common types of polyps are:

  1. Cholesterol polyp, which occurs when deposited on mucous cholesterol.
  2. Inflammatory polyp, which is the consequence of chronic inflammatory processes, in which tissues in places grow strongly.
  3. Benign tumors - papillomas and adenomas.

Polyps in the gallbladder do not give pronounced symptoms. In some cases, especially against other diseases, such as urolithiasis (IBD), their growth can be accompanied by pulling pain in the right upper quadrant, severity and discomfort in the stomach during meals. Since polyps themselves do not manifest themselves, they are most often detected by chance, with ultrasound

Treatment of polyps in the gallbladder

Despite the absence of external symptoms, polyps in the gallbladder are dangerous, since there is a possibility of their degeneration into malignant tumors. The most common method of treatment is the removal of polyps together with the gallbladder. Surgical intervention is considered necessary in the following cases:

  1. In the presence of severe symptoms of the disease.
  2. When the size of the polyps exceeds 10 mm, as the risk of malignant degeneration of the tumor is high.
  3. With the growth of polyps.

If polyps are found in the gallbladder, if there is no indication for immediate removal, you must do ultrasound every six months to make sure that they do not grow. If no changes have occurred in a few years, then one survey per year is sufficient.

Treatment with folk remedies

If there is no need for urgent surgical intervention, you can use folk remedies against polyps.

  1. Treatment celandine. One tablespoon of dry herbs celandine pour 0.5 liters of boiling water, insist in a thermos for 1 hour. Strain and drink a third of the glass 3 times a day for 30 minutes before eating. Take infusion for a month, then take a break for 10 days. The entire course of treatment is 3 months.
  2. Treatment of bear bile. Take two capsules a day, at least six months. This drug helps to thin the bile and prevents the occurrence of cholesterol deposits.
  3. Herbal collection. Mix 1 tablespoon peppermint, triple-leaf, coriander and 2 tablespoons of flowers immortelle. Pour 1 tablespoon of the collection 2 cups of boiling water and leave overnight in a thermos. Drink infusion during the day, preferably 20-30 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is 2 months.

After any treatment, you need to do ultrasound.

Diet

Since one of the causes of polyps in the gallbladder, especially cholesterol, is a metabolic disorder, in case of illness, diet should be followed, and refuse from fatty and fried foods, limit the intake of sugar and foods high in carbohydrates and high cholesterol.
