Primer for the aquarium with their own hands

The soil in the aquarium is necessary for the fish as well as the ground under our feet. It is in it grow plants , swarm and spawn different inhabitants of the underwater world. Due to properly selected and placed soil in the aquarium, biological balance is maintained. It works as a kind of filter.

What kind of primer is needed for the aquarium?

Often newcomers find it difficult to determine the natural or artificial ground for an aquarium to choose. As a rule, the natural soil is moderately decorative, but it creates optimal conditions for normal vital activity of all microorganisms. These are sea pebbles, coarse-grained quartz sand, crushed rocks and minerals (granite, jasper, quartzite, serpentine).

Aquarium priming with your own hands

  1. We will fill in an aquarium a little inert quartz sand.
  2. We will add a bit of "prepared land". Preparation of soil for the aquarium is as follows: two months it is in a flowerpot and watered with water from the aquarium. Such a land is saturated with nutrients (necessary bacteria and microorganisms), which will help to establish the necessary balance.
  3. We mix the earth with sand. How much soil you need for an aquarium depends on the size of the pond, the type of plants, and the preferences of all the inhabitants of the underwater world. There is not much earth in our mix. Carefully add a little water.
  4. To create a decorative effect and imitate the natural habitat, we will set stones in the aquarium. Some species of fish use them for spawning. Not all stones can be placed in the aquarium. It is better to choose granite, basalt and large pebbles. They must be cleaned of dirt and boiled.
  5. On a layer of sand with the addition of land we plant the plants. If the roots of plants have land, for their better growth, the soil is not washed away.
  6. Locally pour a glass of quartz sand into all necessary areas.
  7. It remains to fill the water. In order not to grow turbid, we will cover all planted plants with a packet. Carefully on your hands pour water, so as not to wash away the entire landscape design. A working, full of bacteria filter will immediately make the water absolutely transparent.
