Rules of introduction of complementary foods

To the child to grow up healthy and happy, and the wrong diet, in the literal sense, did not spoil the baby's mood during the day, one should adhere to the correct order of introduction of complementary foods, which we will talk about in this article.

How to correctly introduce the first complementary foods?

  1. The rule of reaching six months of age . According to the recommendations of WHO on the introduction of complementary foods, starting to add to the diet of the baby something other than breast milk can only be from six months of age of the child.
  2. The rule of small doses . The correct introduction of complementary foods must meet the requirement of gradualness. To introduce complementary foods, starting at half a teaspoon. On the second day, a teaspoon is given, on the third - two teaspoons. Thus, increasing the dose every time twice, you need to bring the volume of food to a volume suitable for your child by age.
  3. Rule of monocomponent . Each product should be administered separately, maintaining a one-week break between the introduction of various products. For example, if you planned to introduce rice porridge and apple puree in the near future, expect that this process will take you about 3 weeks. During the first week the child will get used to new food, during the second week "to have a rest" from "accustoming", at last, during the third week you again can set to an organism of the child "zadachku". Keep in mind that any new food in the baby's diet is a serious test of his strength.
  4. The rule of selectivity . In the composition of products that you enter into the baby's diet should not contain preservatives. Best of all, if it's vegetables or meat from the owners, which you know well. Different mashed potatoes for the first complementary meal should be prepared independently. Add salt, sugar, spices in the first lure of the baby - unnecessarily.
  5. The rule of the morning hours . To introduce new food into the baby's diet should be in the morning or afternoon, as in this case you will have the opportunity to observe the change in mood, skin condition of the baby during the day, and on the basis of these observations determine whether the product is suitable for the child or not.
  6. The rule of hypoallergenicity . To start feeding should be from hypoallergenic green and yellow vegetables and fruits, then go on to the introduction of cereals, after - sour-milk products, lastly - meat products. (Some well-known pediatricians recommend starting with fermented milk products, however, they can cause allergic reactions in children prone to allergy to cow's milk proteins.) Therefore, it is more appropriate to start with fruits and vegetables.)

It should be taken into account that the stool after the introduction of complementary foods can change. This feature is not an excuse to cancel the lure. At the same time, the introduction of fruit into the diet of a child can both weaken and strengthen the children's chair. Everything depends on the individual inclinations of the child.

Complementary feeding scheme

The schedule of complementary feeding may vary depending on the characteristics of your child, but in general terms, the scheme is as follows.

  1. First feeding. Mother's milk or mixture (volume 200 ml).

How to inject lure allergic?

First of all, the above rules for the introduction of the first complementary food should pay attention to parents whose children suffer from atopic dermatitis or are prone to allergic reactions. In addition, in such cases it will be useful to have a food diary to fix all the reactions to various foods introduced into the diet, and strictly avoid those products to which the reaction was. Allergists recommend not to try products that have been definitely allergic to, within six months of contact with the allergen.
