Sendall Tunnel

One of the most interesting places in the town of St. Georges in Grenada is the Sendall tunnel. It was built in 1894 and decided one of the most important transport problems of the city - connected its central part and the city harbor. The entrance to the tunnel is decorated with engraving, which tells its name and the date of construction.

Tunnel construction Sendall

Sendall Tunnel is quite high (about nine feet), which, undoubtedly, is very convenient, because it can travel through vehicles. In this case, the tunnel inside is very narrow, so only one-way traffic is allowed. However, next to a moving car, a pedestrian can be perfectly fitted, which should be extremely careful, since the walk is not safe: because of the tightness, you have to cuddle up against the wall all the time, while the machines are constantly moving around. To enjoy beautiful views of the city, the bay, the surrounding neighborhood, climb to the observation deck located above Sendal.

How to get there?

The easiest way to reach the Sendal tunnel is by car. The attraction begins at the intersection of Sendall Tannel and Grand Etang Road, so finding it is not difficult even for those who came to the city for the first time. We also recommend visiting the nearby Fort George - another interesting place in the capital.
