The delay of speech development is a sad tendency of recent years. Of course, there is no clear age range when a child should speak. At everyone the formation of speech occurs individually under the influence of set of the most various factors. But if the child does not talk at the age of 3, this should be noted.
Why does not the child speak?
There are several reasons why your baby may be silent, namely:
- birth trauma and neurological disorders. Unfortunately, during childbirth, there is a possibility of brain damage and, as a consequence, subsequent development of disorders. As a rule, this does not go unnoticed if the child underwent mandatory preventive examinations with specialists. But nevertheless it does not prevent to address once again to the neurologist to confirm or exclude the disease according to its profile;
- Autism is a mental illness characterized by the child's closed-mindedness and absolute reluctance to make contact;
- problems with hearing. Sometimes this becomes an unpleasant surprise for parents who did not suspect such a pathology;
- pedagogical "neglect" . If the child is already three years old, and he has not yet spoken, perhaps the child has simply been doing little. And here we are not talking about special developmental techniques, but about just emotional communication, reading books, joint games;
- speech negativity in the child. The child does not want to talk if he feels constant pressure from adults, who constantly pull him "tell" and "repeat". If the child's unwillingness to speak should be punished, then the situation of speech delay can only be aggravated by the layered neurosis.
What if the child does not speak?
- Visit a psychologist, neuropathologist and speech therapist in order to find the cause of speech delay.
- Communicate more with the child. Unfortunately, parents often try to compensate for their lack of attention with toys and cartoons. The existing order needs to be changed radically, paying more attention to simple communication and joint pastime.
- Stimulate the development of speech activity by reading books, looking at pictures, suggestive questions, but do not press on the baby.
- Use palm gymnastics for the development of fine motor skills, directly related to speech.
- Use the technique to develop auditory attention and speech therapy to strengthen the facial muscles.
