The procedure for instillation of the urethra is the drip infusion of certain drugs into the urethra (urethra) to perform local treatment for malfunction of its mucous membrane. The instillation procedure is done for both women and men.
Opinions of doctors on the need for instillations of the urethra and bladder are ambiguous. Most doctors confirm that local administration of medicines contributes to more effective treatment of urinary tract diseases. But it is important to note the fact that today there are many opinions of medical practitioners and theoreticians about the uselessness and even harm of such a procedure.
Indications for urethral instillation
Ustry instillation in women is part of complex therapy and is performed for local treatment of inflammatory diseases of the lower urinary tract. The need for instillation is often heard by women with chronic urethritis and cystitis, the mucous membrane of the urethra and urinary bladder needs to be restored.
For men, instillation of the urethra can be indicated with prostatitis and chronic urethritis, in particular with urethritis caused by sexual infections, as well as in violation of the urination of another etiology.
The order of instillation
Before the procedure of instillation of the urethra and / or bladder, it is necessary to carry out at least two studies:
- cystoscopy - endoscopic examination of the inner surface of the urethra and bladder;
- biopsy - excision of a small area of the urethra or bladder tissue for the purpose of microscopic examination and diagnosis.
For the installation of urethra in women, as well as the installation of the front urethra, men use a special disposable syringe. In the meantime, as for the installation of the posterior urethra in men, it is mandatory to use a catheter. The male urethra is considerably longer than the woman's urethra, for this reason, a long but narrow urological catheter is required for the procedure of instillation of the posterior urethra.
One end of the catheter is inserted into the urethra, the other - attached to the cannula from the syringe with the medicine, from which the slow descent of the drug. The insertion of a catheter into the urethra is accompanied by a slight discomfort. Before the procedure of instillation of the urethra, it is recommended to empty the bladder, after it for 1-2 hours should refrain from urinating.
Drugs used for instillation of the urethra are very diverse. The choice of a specific medicine is carried out individually. Most often in the urethra enter solutions of antibiotics and boric acid, ozonized solutions, liniment of tsikloferona and other means. The number of instillations is determined individually in each specific case, usually the procedures are carried out until the symptom of the existing disease disappears.
The instillation of the urethra in the home and its consequences
It is forbidden to instill the urethra at home, it is a medical procedure that only medical workers can do correctly, and only if there is adequate equipment, antiseptic conditions and practical skills.
Self-administered urethral instillation is fraught with extremely undesirable consequences: exacerbation of already existing inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract, bacterial infection of the urethra, ascending pyelonephritis, etc.
In isolated cases, an exception is possible. The doctor can give permission for the instillation of the urethra at home, but only after:
- determination of the need for such a procedure;
- appointing the appropriate drugs with which to use it;
- familiarize the patient with step-by-step instructions for instillation.
