Inflammation is the most common pathology of this part of the intestine. Often the symptoms of the disease lead to confusion, the disease is taken for no less common - inflammation of the appendix of the cecum, otherwise, appendicitis .
Causes of inflammation of the cecum
As a rule, the pathology is acute and its causes become:
- food allergy;
- infectious processes;
- infection of the blood, leading to the defeat of internal organs;
- systematic constipation;
- complications caused by appendicitis or other pathologies of the digestive tract;
- intestinal dysbiosis.
If treatment does not have a positive effect or the disease is not completely healed, a transition to a chronic form is possible.
Symptoms of inflammation of the caecum
Signs of an acute form appear after eating, usually for 4-5 hours.
As with inflammation of the appendix of the cecum, there is a sharp pain in the iliac region to the right. At the same time, painful sensations can be given to the inguinal zone, lower back or thigh.
In addition, the patient complains of the following symptoms:
- nausea, which rarely leads to vomiting;
- increased formation of gases;
- general weakness;
- repetitive belching .
Diarrhea is possible, but it is not considered an indispensable symptom of tiflitis - inflammation of the cecum. During an attack, the patient's appetite decreases, often the use of any food causes painful heartburn. Change of position, physical activity leads to increased painful sensations.
Depending on the causes of the inflammatory process, it is noted:
- fever, chills;
- headache;
- presence of feces in the stool;
In this case, diarrhea and constipation can occur in turn.
The chronic form has similar symptoms, but the clinical picture is not so pronounced.
During periods of remission in chronic pathology, there is no symptomatology. But with any stress or excessive physical activity, a relapse of the acute form develops.
If there are signs of inflammation of the cecum, it is necessary to urgently appeal to the official medicine. The disease often accompanies acute appendicitis. But even with an independent course, tiflitis leads to ulceration of the walls of the organ and inflammation of the retroperitoneal wall.
