Decoupage dresser

Do you have an ordinary wooden chest of drawers that looks rather ordinary and clearly not an ornament of the interior? We present to your attention one of the most simple and inexpensive methods of updating furniture - decoupage. The essence of this technique is quite simple: a special decoupage paper or usual curly napkins are glued to the prepared surface of the furniture, the top is covered with varnish and your furniture turns into a real work of art.

So, if you are ready to show a little patience, ingenuity and do not mind working with your own hands, we offer you step-by-step instructions on decoupling the old chest.

Decoupage of the dresser under the antiquity with their own hands

First of all, you should prepare everything you need:

When everything is ready, you can start working:

  1. First you need to unscrew the knobs and cover our workpiece with acrylic lacquer.
  2. After the varnish has dried, all the outer sides of the dresser are covered with gold acrylic paint.
  3. At the edge of the countertop of the chest and the ends of the boxes, we glue the strips of adhesive tape about 5 cm from the edge.
  4. We cover the table top and the ends with white acrylic paint, and the side of the dresser with a single-step crucular.
  5. Dry and remove scotch. The places that were covered with scotch, and the sides are covered with brown acrylic paint. In order to create "beautiful cracks" on the side walls, it is recommended to apply the paint with a sponge.
  6. The worktop of the dresser and the ends of the boxes are scratched, so that the golden paint can be seen in the scuffs.
  7. Now you can proceed directly to the decoupage of our wooden chest. Gently cut out the necessary motifs. Using a special adhesive for decoupage and brushes with soft bristles paste the picture on the chest of drawers.
  8. Then we cover the countertop of the dresser and the ends of the boxes with the 1st step of the 2-component craquelure, dry it, then the 2nd step and again dry it.
  9. In the cracks formed, gently rub the bitumen, and in some places we darken out the golden oil paint.
  10. In the end, this must be a chest of drawers, made in the technique of decoupage!

In conclusion, I want to note that following the instructions of the detailed master class on decoupage, you can transform not only a chest of drawers, but also any other wooden furniture that urgently requires cosmetic repair: a table , a chair or a stool.
