Devotion

Devotion is complete commitment, a life of love and loyalty to any cause or person. It is she who nourishes a person with strength and inspiration, makes one struggle when her hands fall. Devotion is the willingness to go to the end in the name of a person or an idea. Possible extremes such as fanatical devotion, because of which a person is ready for terrible acts and even crimes.

The Problem of Devotion

Respect for devotion has developed in our society. It is believed that this is the very quality that indicates a highly moral person. Devotion is compared with self-sacrifice and altruism, they find in it the greatest benefactor. However, often being committed to a person or an idea means betraying one's own interests, which is not always good for the individual. Even if this is really guided by a noble motive, it is always worthwhile to treat it with some guardedness.

So, for example, truly devoted daughters can, for the sake of the mother, give up personal life, gaining new and new scientific degrees and, as a result, never having created their own family. Such a girl can in this way either express gratitude, or hide the feeling of guilt for any sacrifices for which her mother went for her sake. In any case, the outcome of such devotion, as is easy to understand, is very sad for a devoted person.

Devotion has a close connection with the values of man, because this concept is so strong that it is certainly associated with the most exciting and important for human phenomena. Devotees can be a family, political trends, religious beliefs, certain ideals.

In any case, devotion forces a person to waste his resources - time, emotion, money or power, and all this - not for the sake of reward, but for the sake of an idea. Fanatic devotion is always very dangerous, and before you give up your interests in the name of beliefs, think about it - is it worth betraying yourself to please something else? Many people do not see the point when devotion is no longer something that evokes respect and grows into fanaticism.

Examples of devotion

Perhaps the best example of selfless devotion is the protagonist of the film "Hatiko" - a dog that for many years waited at the train station of its deceased host, whom she always met there after work during his lifetime. Whatever happens, the dog sat at the station and waited for the train that would bring her master. There, at the station, the animal's life ended, which showed us on a personal example what real loyalty and loyalty are. This is not a contrived plot, and the dog shown in the film is not alone: in the Russian city of Togliatti there is a "Monument of Devotion", which is installed in honor of a dog who performed a feat similar to that, that is shown in the film.

If we consider examples of human devotion, there can be completely different cases - from devotion to friends or the second half to devotion to a dream, work and a beloved cause. For example, if a person with amazing abilities works in one job, which is by no means the highest salary and the best working conditions, and rejects more promising proposals, in the name of raising an enterprise to his feet, this is the company's dedication.

Another case is devotion to ideals and beliefs. For example, people devoted to the idea of revolution in 1917 overthrew centuries of monarchical power and shot the entire royal family. Devotion to ideas and beliefs is the most dangerous, because on this ground, various strife often flare up. People whose devotion to ideas are off scale, do not always correctly assess their actions or consider other people's opinions.
