Embroidery with tapes "Poppies"

We present to your attention a master class on embroidery of poppies with ribbons. From it you will learn how you can beautifully decorate a panel in this interesting technique and master some basic techniques of embroidery with ribbons.

Master-class "Poppies embroidered with ribbons"

  1. Prepare all the materials necessary for work: base fabric, satin ribbons (wide red and narrow ribbon or green or golden cord), needles for embroidery, as well as beads - black and white (yellow). You will also need a drawing on which you will make embroidery (you can sketch it yourself). Embroidery with ribbons for beginners involves a simple drawing of poppies.
  2. Mark the fabric on the fabric (with a simple pencil, a tissue marker, or a conventional crayon). Orienting on it, embroider with beads the middle of the first flower. Looks elegantly black "velvet" middle and contrasting color glare.
  3. Take a piece of red ribbon with a width of 2.5-3 cm and a length of about 10-15 cm (depending on the desired size of the flower) and sew small stitches along the cut line. Use a red thread in the tone of the ribbon.
  4. Then "turn" and lay small loose stitches along the entire tape, in a circle.
  5. Pull this seam and attach the future flower to the middle - the inner circumference of the poppy should be about the same size as the outer circle of the beaded middle.
  6. Now you need to connect the lines of both circles with a neat suture. One ribbon sewn in this manner forms one poppy flower. Try to make the ribbon ribbons beautifully covered with waves, giving them the maximum resemblance to a real poppy.
  7. The outer edge of the poppy can be left as it is, but you can sew in several places with a secret seam to the fabric - so the flower will be more open.
  8. This is how the wrong side of the fabric will look at this stage.
  9. It was the turn of the side colors. For them, use the tape a little shorter.
  10. It is better to first carry out the petals themselves, and then take up the middle, since it will be oval in shape.
  11. Poppy stems can be embroidered using a needle with a wide eyelet, pulling the ribbon to the wrong side, or it can be attached to the outside of the fabric with secret stitches.
  12. We embroider the petals of the "background" on the tips of long stems. For this it is sufficient to make several stems "forward the needle".
  13. Add a pair of contrasting petals of the same color as the stems, as if hiding the red petals.
  14. And at the end of the work we embroider small leaves near the stems of a flower.

As you can see, it is not difficult to embroider poppies with satin ribbons. We wish you luck in mastering the new needlework technique !
