Exercise Memory - Exercises

Tell me, did you happen to go to the store with a huge list of purchases and buy everything, taking even toothpicks and find out at home that you forgot about bread? If this happened, then you remember your feelings and they are unlikely to be pleasant. But these are trifles, and forgetfulness can lead to more serious problems. Therefore, the issue of training attention and memory, the need to devote time to exercise to improve the current situation, sooner or later comes before everyone. Ways to make your attention more tenacious can be done with various methods, but the main key to success is not so much choosing the right methods of memory training as the regularity of using the technique. That is, it is more useful to study for 20 minutes every day, instead of a two-hour workout once a week.

Exercises for training visual memory

Most people remember the picture much better than someone else's speech or their tactile sensations. Therefore, most of the techniques are aimed at training this particular type of memory. Let's look at some of the most effective exercises.

  1. Schulte tables . Are squares filled with consecutive symbols (more often by numbers), your task is to find them all as quickly as possible, and when searching you need to observe their order. This technique of training develops not only memory, but also speed reading.
  2. Playing matches . Very simple and not requiring complicated adaptations. You need to take 5 matches and throw them on the table. Look at the resulting picture and try to recreate it on the other half of the table. Do not spy! As soon as this task becomes easy for you, add a number of matches and reduce the time of memorization.
  3. Aivazovsky's method . The famous artist of the seascape had a magnificent visual memory, being able to reproduce a picture from memories on the canvas so that it does not look like a frozen photograph. You too can use this technique. Look carefully at the beautiful landscape, the interior or the person. Then close your eyes and try to recreate the image of the object in as much detail as possible. If you want, you can draw emerging images, this will increase the effectiveness of the session.
  4. Roman room (Cicero method). You can practice on real subjects, and in your imagination. Imagine the situation: you are in an unfamiliar place (room) and want to remember as much as possible details. To begin with, you need to remember some of the brightest objects, and you need to do it consistently (for example, moving clockwise). Now create links between objects that you remembered and with smaller details (for example, behind a large air curtain is a small vase with a daffodil). Such connections will help to reproduce the whole picture in the future.

Exercises for training auditory memory

Remembering what you heard, especially by heart, is not easy, but there are special methods for training and this kind of memory.

The best way is to read aloud, it will increase the vocabulary, and diction will improve, and teach the proper transmission of intonation emotions. True, there is one peculiarity - you do not need to read monotonously, doing the duty, but with an expression, as if the text is very close to your beliefs.

It also helps to memorize poems. It is enough to learn at least a quatrain every day, you will achieve good results. Only in this case it is necessary to think over the meaning of the poem, trying to feel his emotional fullness.

Another interesting way to develop auditory memory is eavesdropping. Try, while in public places, to catch some of the conversation of other people. Then, for yourself, reproduce this piece, not forgetting the intonation and expressions of people's faces.

In addition to special exercises, useful substances in sardine, soy, olive oil, bean sprouts, mushrooms, tomatoes, cherry, almonds, fish and beef can contribute to memory improvement.
