Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Embryological alcohol syndrome, or alcoholic syndrome in children is a complex of various deviations in the child's physical and mental character. Pathologies in development are the result of alcohol intake by the mother of the child before, and during pregnancy. Disorders of intrauterine development lead to irreparable consequences. Deviations appear immediately after birth.

Signs of fetal alcohol syndrome

Congenital alcoholic syndrome is always characterized by serious brain damage, certain facial anomalies and developmental lag.

Fetal and alcoholic syndrome leads to violations in the development of the skeleton of the child, heart disease, and sometimes epilepsy.

The most serious abnormalities in development may be the increased pressure of the fluid in the cranium. There are also such anomalies as the wolf mouth - cleavage of the sky, hare's lip - splitting of the upper lip. No less dangerous problem may be a narrowing of the aorta - insufficient blood supply to the whole body.

Consequences of fetal alcohol syndrome in children

All children with this disease are not capable of independent life and need social protection and medical care.

The mental capabilities of children with fetal syndrome are markedly reduced. As a rule, the average intelligence indicators border on mental retardation. This leads to great difficulties in training. The most elementary truths are very difficult for children with bad memory, lack of imagination and unwillingness to focus on the task at hand.

Fetal alcohol syndrome leads to problems with vision. Very often, already at an early age, short-sightedness is formed.

Even more difficult is the perception of social norms of behavior. Lack of self-discipline, impulsiveness often lead to conflict situations. Children with fetal syndrome do not always realize the consequences of their actions.

How to prevent?

It should always be remembered that alcohol is a dangerous toxin. When planning a pregnancy, a woman should definitely refuse it in advance. There are no small doses of alcohol.

Especially dangerous is the intake of alcohol in the first trimester of pregnancy. During this period all the organs and systems of the future child are formed. Remember that the health and happiness of your child depends only on you.
