After the end of the thunderstorm, locals find a huge amount of live fish on the ground, which they hurriedly bring home to cook one of the traditional dishes of Honduran cuisine .

Fishing rain has become a holiday

Fish rains in Honduras have spawned the "Festival de la Lluvia de Peces" or the "Rain Rain Festival", which has been celebrated every year since 1998 in the town of Yoro. The holiday is distinguished by rich tables, where you can meet a variety of fish dishes.

Recently, the intensity of precipitation of unusual precipitation has increased, and since 2006, fish rains have been recorded twice a year.

Explanation of the reasons

There are several versions that can explain the causes of the precipitation of fish rains in Honduras.

According to the first of them, strong winds and powerful tornadoes, spinning funnels, raise fish into the air from reservoirs. After the completion of the wildfire, the fish are found in a vast territory.

Reason two: river fish, moving from the reservoir to the underground stream, collides with a heavy rainfall, which raises the water level and simply flushes it to the ground where the waterfowl is picked up by a hurricane.

Miracle of Holy Father Subiran

Some eyewitnesses of the events adhere to the third version, which is associated with the name of the holy father of Jose Manuel Subaran. The Spanish missionary arrived in Honduras in the second half of the XIX century. During his visit, Father Subiran met many needy people who had nothing to eat. In hot prayers, the Holy spent three days and three nights and asked God for the grace that will help people survive. Coincidence it or not, but the fish rains in Honduras began to fall precisely since then.

Considering the photo that captured the fish rain, one can come to the conclusion that this is a very unusual phenomenon that attracts attention of local residents and numerous tourists from different countries.
