The main causes of headache during breastfeeding are overexertion, cerebral vasospasm and arterial hypertension.

Chronic fatigue or stress in a nursing mother is not uncommon. The headache associated with lactation, caused by these causes, is generally tolerable and resembles a head-squeezing hoop. Most women suffer exactly the headache of tension.

But the vasospasm that provokes a migraine, although less common, delivers unbearable suffering to the nursing mother. In this case, the headache when breastfeeding is strong, throbbing, concentrated in one half of the head, light and sound, nausea, vomiting.

Hypertension manifests itself as a pressing, throbbing pain in the back of the head. However, often high blood pressure is not accompanied by pain.

To suffer a headache during a lactemia it is impossible, doctors approve. But even thoughtlessly swallowing medicines is also unacceptable. In addition, in different cases, a headache in a nursing mother is treated differently.

The headache of tension is very often removed with analgin or preparations containing it (Pentalgin, Tempalgin, Sedalgin). However, even a single reception of these funds from a headache during lactation can cause kidney damage, oppression of hematopoiesis or anaphylactic shock. Therefore, the question is whether the nursing mother analgin any pediatrician will respond negatively. Remove the pain will help the reception of paracetamol and preparations based on it (Panadol, Kalpol, Efferalgan).

Migraine headache is also treated with drugs that are not compatible with breastfeeding. In babies whose mothers take funds based on ergotamine (Zomig, Dihydroergotamine, Risatriptan), nausea, vomiting, convulsions. To take into account the risks and choose a sparing treatment in this case should only a neurologist.

Headaches in a nursing mother, caused by hypertension, should not be treated with usual drugs in such cases, reducing blood pressure (Nebilet, Obsidan, Anaprilin). If the pain is unbearable, you can remove the attack with a one-time intake of Enap or Kapoten. However, with constant headaches, the doctor may advise you to stop breastfeeding.
