Imaginary memory

Previously, people could remember events with the help of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. Words and letters appeared much later. Image memory helps to perceive and remember information through images and sensations.

Image memory in psychology

People should remember information without cramming, it's natural. Since birth, figurative memory is well developed in all children, but with age they are retrained and forced to repeat again and again boring words. Researches of experts have shown that people who often visualize and present events, can remember literally every day - provided long and constant training. With a one-time listening information a person will be able to reproduce only 10% of it. If he reads it, the figure will increase to 30%, but if you combine visual and auditory memory, the result will increase to 50%. What will happen if you use all the other senses ?

Types of imagery

  1. Visually . The person perceives the information with the help of pictures, for example, the face of a close friend, an advertising poster, a bench near the house, etc.
  2. Auditory . Memorization occurs with the help of the sound of your favorite song, the chirping of birds, the voice of a friend, the noise of cars, etc.
  3. The taste . The taste of the drink, the sweetness of the dessert, the bitter taste of pepper, the acid of the lemon, etc., remain in the memory.
  4. Olfactory . Quite often people remember any events, having heard a familiar smell (favorite spirits, spices, smoke from a fire, etc.).
  5. Tactile . Touching also allows us to remember events. It can be the soft back of the kitten, the heat of the battery, the pain in the hand from the impact.

Development of figurative memory

  1. Remember the sequence of geometric shapes. Associate each figure with some way. For example, a square can be associated with a window, and a triangle with a mountain.
  2. If you need to remember a few sentences, come up with a short but interesting story and use each word from the available phrase.
  3. When you want to remember foreign words, compare them with similar in sounding Russian and give each word a way.
  4. Draw in your imagination only vivid pictures. Play with the images. If you need to remember a historical date, imagine a vivid picture. Give each digit a way and attributes.
  5. Feelings will help you strengthen all the views. Many musicians say that they see the color of music and this helps them create real masterpieces.

The method of figurative memory is to learn how to work in two hemispheres at the same time, then people will be able to perceive the world with all senses. Regular training will help you develop imaginative memory, for this you need only patience.
