Lake Bled

In the north-western part of Slovenia there is the town of Bled . Its peculiarity is that around are the Julian Alps. Near the town there is a lake with the same name, which has clean water, where mountains can be easily seen. It is so clean that in some places you can see the bottom a couple of dozen meters away, as well as view huge catfishes and carp, which sometimes swim to the shore. The length of Lake Bled is about 2 km, around it is equipped with a transitional path, which is surrounded by trees.

Lake Bled - in winter

In winter, Lake Bled (Slovenia) is popular among lovers of active winter recreation, as around there are the Julian Alps with many mountain slopes. The ski season in this area lasts from early December to early April. The nearest ski track is the Strazha, it is located at a distance of 150 m from the center of Bled. The length of the slope of this route is 1 km, the difference between the heights is from 634 m to 503 m. There is a chair lift on the slope and a ski school is operating. The total length of the cross-country ski runs in the resort is 15 km. From many hotels free buses are sent here.

  1. The main attraction of Lake Bled are mountain landscapes . There are several equipped observation platforms, from where you can admire the beautiful views of the surrounding area. One of them - Ojstrica , where you need 20 minutes to be understood at a height of 611 m, from where you can see a magnificent view of the lake's surroundings and camping.
  2. Another favorite point for photographers is Osojnica , from which you can admire stunning views. To get to the point of view, you have to climb an hour to a height of 756 m.
  3. The Vintgar gorge is very beautiful, thanks to its emerald water, which falls from waterfalls, fills pools and rapids. The mountain gorge is located 4 km to the west of Lake Bled.
  4. The island of Bled is a famous place on the lake, where the Orthodox Church of the Assumption is located with the bell tower of desires.
  5. Another great place to relax - the mountain plateau , where the lodges are located among the Alpine nature, next to meadows, pastures and forests.
  6. Lake Bled belongs to the national park Triglav - the only park in Slovenia and the oldest in Europe. On an area of ​​800 km² you can admire the stunning views of protected and unspoiled nature.
  7. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is built on the Slavic sanctuary, which was destroyed during the clash of pagans and Christians. To date, the church has retained the form that was given to it in the 17th century, when it survived another earthquake. In the architecture of the church only the bell tower, built in the 15th century, is preserved. In the church there are 3 belfries to reach them, you need to overcome 99 steps.
  8. Bled Castle is an ancient building on a steep rock, its history dates back to the 11th century. The most interesting place of the castle is the Gothic chapel. To date, the castle is used as a museum, where exhibits on the history and culture of Bled are presented. There are decorations, household items and a terrace with a telescope. The castle even has a cozy cafe and restaurant.

Holidays at Lake Bled

Lake Bled (Slovenia), whose photo is not able to fully convey all its beauty, offers tourists many types of recreation, which include the following. On the territory of Bled, there is an opportunity to engage in active sports, such as cycling and horse riding. For extreme tourists, it is possible to jump from a mountain top with a parachute. You can just choose a walk through the lake.

Not far from the lake is the Pokljuka district, where the competitions for the Biathlon World Cup were held. For recreation of active tourists, tennis is also offered, there are 14 tennis courts nearby, there are fitness centers, a skating rink and golf. In summer, you can go diving, swimming, rafting and canoeing on the lake.

For traveling on the lake there is a traditional means of transportation - it's the Pletna boat. It is made of wood and has a flat bottom and a pointed nose. Such a boat can be found only in these parts, it will be an excellent transport for traveling on water. In the summer, a lot of cultural events, performances of musical groups and folklore groups take place on Lake Bled.
