Gorge Vintgar is located next to the picturesque lake Bled . Usually tourists, after admiring the water, go to the mountain gorge through which the river Radovna flows. The canyon is notable for its beauty, and the paths along the steep cliffs allow one to look into places that were previously hidden from people.
General information
The Vintgar gorge is compared with the famous Zapadere canyon in Alanya and with Grzensko, also called the Czech Switzerland. Vintgar was discovered much later than listed places, but with its landscape it is very similar to them. The length of the canyon is 1.6 km, during the entire distance the rocks stretch, which are then approaching, then they retreat, because of which some parts of the gorge are poorly visible. Above the cliffs there is a beech forest, thanks to which wonderful fresh air is in the Vintgar - a walk here is a pleasure.
The gorge for tourists was opened by Jacob Joumer in 1891. At that time he held the position of a measure of the village of Gore, next to which are the cliffs. He loved these places and often walked around them. In one of these walks, he came across a canyon. Then he saw this as a commercial advantage. For two years along the gorge, a route was laid: bridges were built, trails set up and staircases were erected in steep places. Over time, the route was increased, and a fence was put on both sides. The entrance was paid.
Excursion in the canyon
Gorge Vintgar is a corner of untouched nature. Tourists seem to make their way to a world completely hidden from the eyes of man. It is for the sake of deepening into the wilds of nature that travelers come here.
Walking along the canyon takes about 40 minutes. At this time there are stops in the most beautiful places in order to admire and take a photo. The tour is available as a group of 10 or more people, and a small company. Ticket prices are as follows:

How to get there?
You can get to the gorge as part of a tour group or by bus. Nearby, in 170 m there is a bus station "Vintgar". Buses run from the cities: Podhom, Gorye, Mevkuz and Viselnitsa.
