Lake Pozo sprawls along the central part of Sulawesi Island and is one of the largest in Indonesia . Its length is about 37 km, width 13 km, total area 32 thousand hectares. It is located at a height of 485 m above sea level, and its maximum depth is 450 m.
What's interestnig?
Lake Pozo is a frequently visited tourist site, mainly because of the magnificent nature and the cities surrounding it. But the main advantage of the lake is its inhabitants - the Sulawes shrimp and snails. Their species are unique, and not even everyone is given names. Shrimp are not too bright, you can tell, even translucent, but in eating algae just champions. The most unusual species:
- shrimp Caridina shekelly, Caridina sarasinorum, Caridina caerulea, Caridina ensifera, Caridina longidigita;
- unusual snails with an elephantike trunk.
Most shrimp and snails are caught for sale in aquariums.
Surrounding the lake Pozo:
- The tourist city of Tentena is located on the north-east of the lake. It is in this place that takes the flowing river Poso, poking out of the pond.
- In the south-west are cities such as Bancea and Pamona Selatan. Near Bancea is a stunning park with wild orchids.
- Almost the entire coast of Lake Poso is surrounded by dense forests. These are ebony, sandalwood, iron, coniferous, teak, dipterocarp and black trees. They are complemented by pandanus, lianas, palms and bamboo. The south of the lake closes intermontane depressions, savannas and shrub thickets, the flora of which is represented by Australian plants.
- The fauna of the surrounding forests is also mixed, inhabited by Indo-Malaysian and Australian animals. Among other fauna there are elephants, two-horned rhinos, crested macaques, boar-babyrussa, buffaloes of anoa. The world of birds is even more diverse: it is a set of species of birds of paradise and parrots.
- Siuri Beach - an excellent entertainment place, built right on the beach of Lake Pozo from the city of Ampan. For guests of the beach there are such entertainment: billiards, a banana boat, water scooters, water skis and excellent places for swimming. On the coast there is a cozy hotel and a bar with live music.

How to get there?
You can get to Pozo Lake by plane from Jakarta to Kasiguncu Airport in Central Sulawesi. From the airport to the city of Tenten you can get on a ride or by taxi, the journey time is 1 h. 20 min.
