Two-time Oscar winner gave an official interview and denied all allegations of sexual harassment against a former employee, calling them "false and fabricated."
Perhaps the 73-year-old American actor would have ignored the scandal surrounding his name, but the magazines The Hollywood Reporter and Variety planned article-exposures with sexual overtones, where the main person involved is Michael Douglas. The editors contacted editors and asked to comment on the information received from the "injured employee." Douglas did not create an excuse for speculation and the emergence of additional charges, he immediately voiced his position before the official publication.
Note that the incident occurred many years ago, to be more precise, it is 32 years. Douglas commented on what had happened:
"I received a letter from a lawyer with information that the publications of The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are preparing an article for publication, where my name appears. Then I was contacted by representatives of magazines and asked to comment on the facts. The article, as it turned out, tells the story of my former employee, who, from her words, was subjected to violence and harassment. I note that this woman really worked for me 32 years ago, but otherwise, all voiced - fabricated slander. She claims that in her presence I allowed vulgar statements, but not in relation to her personally, that she spoke rudely in private conversations with her friends, but not with her! In addition, she accused me of firing her and doing everything so that she could not later find work in the film industry. But that's not all, she said that I ... masturbated in front of her. "
Michael Douglas was indignant with the accusation and outright lies on the part of the former collaborator who, in the wake of scandalous and revealing stories, wants to draw attention to herself:
"I never gave rise to such accusations and always treated women with great respect, supporting the women's movement. My wife Catherine Zeta-Jones is a famous actress, my mother was also a Hollywood successful actress, they are for me a model of strength, intelligence and beauty! I do not know what should have encouraged this woman to openly tell lies? Discontent over dismissal, but 32 years have passed and nothing has been heard about it? The desire to get a piece of fame or money? If an authoritative publication believes that this story is worth publishing, then this is their right. But everything written is already knowingly unsubstantiated and built on falsehood! "
