Mowhawk is awl-shaped - growing from seeds

Irish moss, or bryozoan subulate, is often used to create beautiful grassy carpets in stony or so-called "Japanese" gardens , between the slabs of garden paths. The fact is that this plant looks like a moss in appearance: the so-called green cushions 7-8 cm high are dotted with thin needles and in the flowering period they are lined with small white flowers spreading a pleasant honey aroma. That's why many addicted gardeners decide on their nurtured site to grow this miracle - Irish moss. Well, we will tell you how to grow a bryozoan subulate from seeds.

Mowhawk styloid - growing seedlings

It is best to plant the bryozoans in the open ground in the form of seedlings. To do this, in late March or early April, a container for planting is prepared - a box or a basin with loose drained soil. The soil is moistened beforehand and only then the seeds of the bryozoan subulate are spread over its surface, then covered with a film or glass. To fall asleep seeds it is not necessary, differently they simply will not sprout. By the way, the box does not need to be placed in a warm room - the main thing is that there was a positive air temperature. Some gardeners when growing a bryozoan subulate from the seeds even cover the ground with a layer of snow that not only covers the seeds, but also provides the soil with a sufficient amount of moisture.

After 7-10 days, the first "hedgehogs" appear in the box, which then must be dived.

Mowhawk is styloid - planting and care

On a permanent place, the bryozoan mowing is transplanted in the first half of May. The site for Irish moss can be well lit or be in partial shade. The plant is not exacting to the soil, the main condition is good drainage. Sand-loam and loamy soils are best suited. The bushes of the bryozoan styloid are planted on the site at a distance of 10 cm from each other and then watered daily for 10-14 days. Then watering should be reduced to 2-3 times a week. Will not prevent Irish moss and fertilizing fertilizers.
