Pear "Cathedral" - a description of the variety

Russian breeders in 1990 were introduced a sort of pear called "Cathedral". This is a medium-length tree of the summer maturation period.

Pear "Cathedral" - description

The pear of the "Cathedral" variety has a crown of medium thickening with a regular conical shape. The main straight branches grow rarely, and their ends point upwards. Smooth bark of gray color. Fruits are usually formed on simple stubs, but can also be on annual shoots.

The shoots are straight, roundish, reddish-brown in color. Large buds have a conical shape. Leaves, also large, green with pointed ends, are shiny and smooth. At the edges of the sheet has small notches, and its plate is strongly bent.

Large white flowers have oval petals.

Pear fruit "Cathedral" has an average size and weight of about 110 g. Their shape is correct, and the surface is tuberous. Gentle smooth skin is shiny and slightly oily.

When ripe fruits have a green-yellow color with numerous subcutaneous points of gray and green and a slight red blush. Pear pulp is tender, white, fine-grained. Juicy fruits have an excellent sour-sweet taste and a weak aroma.

The pears of the cultivar "Cathedral" ripen in early August. Fruit tree every year.

The variety "Cathedral" is distinguished by its high winter hardiness and excellent resistance to scab. However, the harvest of pears can not last very long - only 10-12 days.

Pear "Cathedral" - planting and care

The Pear of the variety "Cathedral" loves well-lit places and can not stand the stagnation of water. The best soil for it is sandy-chernozem.

When planting a pear seedling, it is not possible to bury its root collar: it should be 7 cm above the soil level.

In the pit before planting the seedlings, it is necessary to introduce wood ash or ammonium nitrate. In the future, the annual fertilizer requires only that tree, which is planted on sandy soil.

And for the pear to get better, the first flowers on the tree should be cut off. Pour the pear up to 5 times a month, and one tree should be poured on a bucket of water in the morning and in the evening. Particularly important is the watering during the fruiting of the pear.

From the description of the "Cathedral" pear, it is not difficult to understand that by planting it on the site, you can get good harvests, providing the tree with the necessary care.
