What is peat pills?
This development is aimed at facilitating the process of growing seeds. They look like small tablets with a height of 8 mm - 3.5 cm and a diameter of 2.5 cm to 7 cm. Each tablet is wrapped in an individual shell in the form of a mesh and has on one side a depression in the center. When they are created, natural peat moss, microelements, an antibacterial agent and a growth stimulant are used. This mixture is compressed and the product is obtained, which is subsequently used by gardeners.
In peat tablets, it is very good to plant seeds of cucumber, melon, watermelon, pumpkin, pepper , tomato and eggplant.
How to use peat pills?
Naturally, in the form in which peat pills are sold, it is impossible to grow seedlings in them, as they are dry and hard. Therefore, they must be prepared. There are two ways to do this:
- Place the tablet for 20-30 minutes in a container filled with liquid. After she grows up, we take out and drain excess water.
- We put in a small saucer (always with a groove upwards). Pour on it 50 ml of warm (preferably water) and give it a good soak the entire tablet.
As a result, the round tablet turns into a small cylinder. Do not worry that peat will swell in different directions when swelling. To avoid this and use a grid, it gives the peat to grow only upwards.

How to plant in peat pills?
In each wet peat tablet you can plant 1-2 seeds. Then it must be sprinkled with a thin layer of humus. After landing under cover, they should be kept until a sprout appears. After the seedlings have formed a large root system, it is possible to carry out transshipment. But when using peat tablets, do not injure the roots, pulling them out of it. In a new pot, the plant is placed with it. For this purpose, 2 cm of soil is poured onto the bottom, then a tablet with seedlings is placed in the middle and all the formed space is filled with soil. At the end of the transshipment, the plant should be watered with water.

The disadvantages of peat tablets include their disposability and high cost (in comparison with soil), but the labor of the horticulturist, the cleanliness in the growing process and the increase in the survival rate of the seedlings thus obtained, compensate them in full.
