But to do this, you need to know how to properly plant peonies in the fall, so that they take root.

Consider the main stages of this process, which consists of: division, planting and care for peonies.

Pion division in autumn

Before you start planting peonies in the fall, they should be divided. It should be done like this:

  1. Cut the stems of peonies.
  2. To dig a bush with a shovel from all sides, trying not to hurt the roots, and to raise it above the ground.
  3. Root the roots with water and leave to dry for a day in the shade. If the root of the bush is very large, then to divide it into parts, drive in the middle of the stake.
  4. The root neck should be cleaned of rot, the roots removed, rotted or damaged, and the rest - shortened to 15-20 cm, preserving 3-5 kidneys.
  5. Then, for several hours, place in a dark solution of potassium permanganate and sprinkle the resulting sections with crushed charcoal.
  6. The resulting pieces are dried within a day, in order to form a cork layer, which will protect them from germs.
  7. For the prophylaxis of fungal diseases, pion peelings should be treated with a solution of "Heteroauxin" (dilute 2 tablets per 10 liters of water).
  8. If the plants are not planted immediately, then they need to be buried in the shade.

Planting peonies in autumn

A prerequisite for planting pions is to choose the right seat. It should be:

Preparation of a landing pit for planting pions in autumn should be done about a month, so that by the time the bush landed, the land had already settled down and tamped. To allow the formation of a powerful root system in the bush, the depth of the pit must be at least 60-70 cm, and the size of 60x60 cm. To ensure air movement and to prevent the occurrence of fungal diseases, peony bushes are planted at a distance of 90 cm.

The land before planting should be fertilized: a mixture of organic fertilizers (well reparted manure or compost), removed by the top layer of the earth, chemical fertilizers ( superphosphate and potassium sulfate) and ash. In clay soil, you need to add a bucket of river sand, and in sandy - a bucket of clay.

How to plant the peonies in autumn:

  1. In the already prepared pit, we set the rhizome of the pion so that the uppermost kidney is 3-5 cm below the ground level (to protect against frost).
  2. We fall asleep the penguin's division or bush, not ramming it, with the soil (fertile), so as not to damage either the kidneys or the roots.
  3. The bush is watered well and mulched by humus from above.
  4. To water after planting is very important for good rooting, and in dry weather it is necessary to continue watering until late autumn.

The best time for planting is the period from August 20 to September 20, ie. so that until frost it remains 40-45 days. Since it is very important that the pions have time to grow the suction roots needed for the full development of the plant next spring.
