Pyrethrum - growing from seeds

Simultaneously, bright and cute pyrethrum flowers pleased many of our compatriots. And this is not surprising, in fact, along with decorative, pyrethrum differs unpretentiousness and useful properties - its seeds have the ability to scare away various pests: mice, rats, bugs and cockroaches. From our article you can learn everything about the growing of seeds of various varieties of pyrethrum.

Cultivation and care of feverfew

Whichever sort of pyrethrum - Robinson, Devichy, or any other - you would not want to plant on your site, it should be remembered that when growing from seeds, plants are unlikely to retain their varietal properties and will differ significantly in color and size of flowers. Therefore, in order to obtain a guaranteed result, it is better to propagate pyrethrum by a vegetative method - shoots and cuttings.

If possible surprises do not frighten you, then it is possible to cultivate pyrethrum from seeds. There are two options - sowing seeds in the open ground in autumn or growing seedlings for them. In the first case, the seeds are sown on the surface of the prepared area in late August-early September and thoroughly watered. So the seeds in pyrethrum are very small, then before sowing it is desirable to mix with dry sand. This will help distribute them evenly over the site.

For seedlings, feverfew is sown in late March-early April, placing containers with them in a well-lit and heated room. After 7-11 days, the first shoots of pyrethrum appear. When two real leaves appear on the sprouts, they are dived into individual pots and kept at a temperature of 18 ° C until the end of May. At the end of May, it is time to transplant the pyrethrum seedlings into the open ground.

Care for feverfew is simple and includes loosening the soil, removing weeds and watering as needed.
