Review of the book "Arthur and the Golden Thread", Joe Todd-Stanton

Perhaps most of all children like to read books not about fairy-tale heroes or supermen, but about their peers, the same children as they themselves, living a normal life, in which they sometimes face something inexplicable and mysterious.

So in the new book of the publishing house MYTH "Arthur and the Golden Thread" by Joe Todd-Stanton it is a simple boy, "the most unheroic hero" as said in the prehistory, not endowed with any superpowers living in a distant Scandinavian country, but who once has to protect his hometown of the giant black wolf, overcoming their own fears.

A bit about the publication

I do not get tired of singing the praises to the next copy of the quality printing of the publishing house. The book is a large children's format, with dimensions of 300x215x10 mm, a weighty enough 468 grams, in a good tight cover. Sheets are thick, offset printing, bright and clear. Pages easily turn over, not demanding extension-flexion. The smell is pleasant, bookish, without annoying colorful aroma.

About the content

As already mentioned, this story will take the reader to distant Iceland, where a small bespectacled boy Arthur will have to defend his hometown from the evil monster Fenrir, which can only be stopped by a special golden thread. To help him come the famous Scandinavian gods Thor and Odin, who will help fulfill tasks and free the inhabitants of the city.

The book can not be called a comic book, it is rather a story told by illustrations, supported by texts. On each page, the reader will see many pictures, performed by the author in sufficient detail and perfectly conveying the atmosphere of history.

In addition, the first and last spread of the book presents a map of the fairy-tale country where Arthur lives and the scheme of the device of the world, the one that was represented by the ancient Scandinavians. Also the reader will get to know the main gods and the main monsters of legends.

To whom I recommend

I recommend the book for reading to preschool and primary school children. Of the minuses I will note a font that is not intended for the first independent reading of children, but which is quite suitable for children who have already learned to read well. In addition, the book will be useful as a fairy tale therapy, as a story that will help the child cope with childhood fears and become more self-confident.

Tatyana, the boy's mother is 6 years old.
