A rock composition is called a composition of a landscape type with the use of stones and plants. To create this type of composition use both large stones to create accents and directions, and small to fill the plane.
How to make a rocker?
Create such a composition is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. It is not just chaotically scattered stones and planted plants. A rockery in the garden will require a competent step-by-step plan from you. Gardeners who have already encountered the creation of rockeries, share some tricks and subtleties of this process:
- if the site has elevations of natural origin, these are ideal conditions for the creation of rockeries;
- never choose a place near a fence or buildings. It is better to build a rockery near a stream or an artificial pond. In the event that there is no choice, one can always decorate an unsightly wall with climbing plant species;
- Stone for rockeries should be chosen in all the rules. In one composition, stones of only one breed should be used. It is desirable that they have rough debris. For these purposes, sandstone, granite, limestone or shell rock are suitable. If there are no altitude differences in your area, you can make them using large boulders. Each stone should lie on its "own" place and a beautiful side to you;
- the creation of rockary by their own hands does not tolerate haste. Ideally, you need to photograph the place of the future composition and sketch an approximate sketch on paper, and then select the plants and stones;
- under the boulders it is better to pour gravel, then the soil will condense and the stones will not settle. To water does not accumulate, it is necessary to prepare a good drainage;
- always break the plants for rock in height. The first tier should be the tallest plants, on the second tier place the plants of medium height, and the third tier should form creeping plant species.
Plants for rocaria
The first stage between the stones is fertile soil, otherwise the decorative-color part will simply perish. Before you make a rockery, you need to think about its size. It is the size that determines the choice of plants.
If you do not have a lot of space, then you should select plants in such a way as to create the impression of a full-fledged big rocker. It is better to choose for the rockeries plants of dwarf species. It can be spruce, tuja, juniper. You can use ground-cover plants: sedums, saxifrage, young.
If you decide to make your own hands a rockery of medium size, then the choice is much wider. To begin with, it's better to start with perennials, which are very easy to care for. From flowers crocuses, primulas, undersized tulips are good. Among the ground cover, you can pick berries evergreen, the phyllaceous subulate, the viviparous and the cat's foot.
