sights

In addition to natural beauty, there are several local attractions on the Royce River - the ancient wooden bridges of the Teufelsbrücke (Devil's Bridge) and the Spreuerbrücke (Mill or Myakin Bridge). In the area of the first in 1898, in the autumn, a memorial to a Russian soldier killed in a Swiss campaign was discovered, carved into a rock, and it is worth paying attention to "our" citizens. Sproierbrücke , which was mentioned last, occupies the second most "ancient" place in Europe. It was built in the XV century. Today, you can see pictures of the painter Caspar Mehlinger. All of them have one motive, dubbed the "Dance of Death". Images depict the inevitability of the death of every person and the subsequent "counting" of his earthly sins.

Through Royce, the oldest wooden wooden bridge in Europe, the Kapellbrücke (Kapelbrücke), is tossed . It is the link between the "old" and "new" cities. The name translates as "chapel on the bridge" or "chapel bridge". It was built in 1333. By the way, it is Kapelbrücke that is considered a symbol of Lucerne. In the evenings street musicians play here, and in the afternoon actors sometimes play miniature theatricals.

After passing along the Kapelbrücke bridge, you will see the octagonal tower of Wasserturm. Now it houses a souvenir shop, where you can buy magnets with views of Lucerne. In general, one of the banks of the river is decorated with many interesting buildings. For example, the Jesuit Cathedral, which today is considered the most beautiful Swiss church in the Baroque style. Also you will see the church of the Franciscans, the Knight's Palace and other all kinds of buildings of the XVIII century, which will be interesting to see even a tourist far from the history of architecture. On the other side of the river is a magnificent garden, whose bright colors fill the Royce's waters with its reflection in the rainy autumn, turning the river into the most picturesque place of Lucerne.
