Tal Cadi

Malta ... How much in this word is hidden and unexplored! The island, which is firmly associated with many landmarks of history, Christian monasteries and bold knights. And the most interesting is that in Malta people have been living for more than 5000 years. Evidence of this is the Tal-Qadi temple.

History of Tal Cadi

The history of Malta is so vast that from year to year archaeological excavations are carried out in different parts of the island. In 1927 the works were conducted on the plain near the Salina Bay. As a result, archaeologists have found the remains of the temple, which was built by the traditional apsidal plan in the era of megalithic civilization. The structure of the temple is attributed to the Tarshien phase (circa 2700 BC).

After the decline of civilization, the temple was abandoned for a long time, and during the Tarsheyen necropolis was used for the cremation of the deceased, it is already around 2500-1500. BC.

Until now, only some elements of the temple of Tal-Kadi have survived, most of the limestone clumps, stacked on each other, just crumbled. The remains of the ancient temple together with such megalithic temples of Malta ( Hajar-Kim ) are a common group in the UNESCO World Heritage.
