The expulsion of hyacinths by March 8

Why do we love spring so much? Behind the sun, more gaily looking through the clouds? And maybe for that heady scent that pours in the air, when the buds of trees and buds of the first flowers start to blossom? Arrange the spring in miniature and watch near the blossoming flowers can be at home, if you do cultivation, for example, hyacinths - the best gift by March 8. Ask how to do it, because these flowers usually please us only in May-June? If you are asking such a question, you probably never encountered such a concept as the forcing of bulbous plants. Namely, forcing allows you to please yourself and your friends by March 8 blooming hyacinths. Do not be afraid of a strange name, this process is not very complicated and will require only time, glass glasses, bulbs of hyacinth, water, pots with earth and mathematical abilities to count how many people you want to give flowers in spring. By the way, about the time, it will take about 4 months to grow hyacinths, so if you want to catch up to March 8, you need to start out in early November.

  1. Take a glass glass, pour water and put the bulb there, so that in the water there were only roots. If the opening of the vessel is too wide for the bulb, then cut a circle of cardboard to the size of the bulb. We place the circle on the vessel, and on top place the bulb. Be sure to make sure that the bottom of the bulb does not touch the water for a couple of millimeters. Such precautions are needed to prevent decay. For the same purpose, put a piece of charcoal in water.
  2. We place the bulbs in a cool, 4-6 ° C, and a dark room. As evaporation, add water to the glasses. We take care in this way for bulbs until sprouts appear, they should be expected by the end of the second month.
  3. As soon as the green sprouts get through, we cover them with a cap of dark paper. We keep under the bell sprouts until they stretch to 12 cm. After removing the cap, we transfer the flowers to a bright (not sunny) place.
  4. Bulbs with grown up to 12 cm stems are planted in a wooden box or in pots, if you intend to give flowers to your friends in the spring. When planting in a wooden box, the bulbs can be placed close to each other, the main thing so that they do not touch each other. And, of course, you can not completely fill the bulbs with earth - about a third of the bulb should remain free. Pots (box) with flowers put in a bright place, with a temperature of about 16-20 ° C. If you leave the flowers in a cold place, then the peduncles do not stretch. And if too much to please the sprouts with the sun, then the flowering risk not wait, the plants will please you only with leaves.
  5. When the buds begin to color, you can again move the flowerpots to a cooler place, with a temperature of about 10-12 degrees C.
  6. And now came the most pleasant part of the outgrowth of hyacinths - watching the opening of buds, if the time was right, then it will happen around March 8th. Even if the flowers bloomed a little before this time, do not worry, the period of hyacinth bloom is 2-3 weeks.

On a note

If at home there was not enough glassware of the desired configuration, it's okay, the bulbs can be immediately landed. You need to take care the same way as for forcing in water, observing the same temperature regime. If you decide to keep pots with bulbs in the refrigerator until sprouts appear, do not wrap the pots with polyethylene. Otherwise, condensation will form on the film, and as a result, moldy soil and rotted bulb. To ensure that the flowers were beautiful and healthy, we feed them (both in water and in the ground) with fertilizers for bulbous plants.
