The fetus grunts

Maternity, especially the first time - a process extremely exciting, sometimes even frightening. Most parents who do not have experience in raising children are worried for nothing, worrying about whether they do everything right, pay attention to trifles and sometimes overlook important symptoms or signs of the development of various diseases. Very often young moms complain that the newborn is grunting. Let's look at the possible causes of such a disturbing parenting behavior and talk about whether it's really worth worrying or starting a treatment for a crumb if you notice that the baby's mouth is grunting.

Why is the baby grunting?

This frightening fact for many inexperienced parents is explained very simply: the nose of the newborn is very tiny, and the nasal passages are narrow. Even a small runny nose or dry crusts in the nose cause difficulty in free movement of air.

Of course, the difficulty of breathing in a baby should be avoided. To do this, use our simple tips:

  1. Monitor the humidity in the room where the newborn is. Regular airing of the room will have a beneficial effect on the well-being and health of the baby. Of course, during the airing of a child it is better to take him to another room, so that he does not freeze in a draft. Well-humidified room aquariums or mini-fountains. To increase the humidity, you can also hang wet cloths on the batteries or put cups with water. And it is better (and easier) just to buy a home air humidifier that can independently adjust the humidity level in the room and automatically turn off when the desired level is reached. Depending on personal preferences and financial possibilities, you can choose a traditional or ultrasonic humidifier. More expensive models are often equipped with filters for air purification. The most expensive complex air cleaning systems not only moisturize the air, but also use special filters to catch dust and other contaminants, making the atmosphere in the room the most comfortable.
  2. Regularly carry out wet cleaning in the children's room. It is undesirable to use aggressive chemical detergents, as they often provoke the development of allergic reactions in children.
  3. Do not forget about daily hygienic procedures for the baby: clean the spout with cotton turuns so that the crusts do not accumulate in the narrow nasal passages.
  4. If the baby grunts very hard with the nose and breathing is difficult, you should wash your nose with a weak saline or saline solution. The most favorable time for such a procedure is before going to bed and feeding.

These basic preventive measures should be applied at all times, this will not only allow the crumb to avoid problems, but also will calm the parents and reduce their anxiety. If there are no other signs of the disease, after a couple of days the tip of the baby will be completely cleared and the grunting sounds will be lost.

If the baby grunts and coughs, his fever rises or other symptoms of ill health appear, contact the pediatrician for diagnosis and the right treatment. Do not engage in self-medication or try to apply folk or "grandmother's" methods - this is like any other unqualified intervention, can do more harm than good. Remember that even the safest drugs for adults or older children can adversely affect a newborn's health. The same can be said about the treatment with herbs - in spite of the fact that many consider phytotherapy as a harmless and not very effective method of treatment, this is far from being the case. Decoctions, infusions or extracts of herbs can greatly affect the body of even an adult, let alone toddlers.

Do not seek to get rid of symptoms on your own, consult a specialist and remember that the best remedy is prevention.
