The Grottoes of Hercules

In the Moroccan city of Tangier , in the place of Ashakar, in the rocks the sea washed the rock and created grooves, which are now called grottoes of Hercules. The name came from the legends of the twelve exploits of Hercules. Before stealing the golden apples growing in the garden of the Hesperides, which is located to the south near Lixus, Hercules spent the night here to gain strength before meeting with a hundred-headed dragon and nymphs of darkness.
