Uterine bleeding is bloody discharge from the uterus, which are caused by pathological processes occurring in the body of a woman. They differ from the usual monthly duration, regularity and volume of blood loss.

What causes abnormal uterine bleeding?

Juvenile Uterine Bleeding

Profuse uterine bleeding

This type of bleeding is not accompanied by painful symptoms, and the amount of blood loss can vary continuously. There is a huge list of reasons that provoke it, for example: taking hormonal drugs, vaginal infections, bladder skipping, ectopic pregnancy, abortion and so on.

Breakthrough uterine bleeding

They can be the result of taking hormonal drugs against unwanted pregnancy. As a rule, blood loss is insignificant, but it is still worth discussing with your gynecologist the dosage of the contraceptive or finding a more suitable analogue.

Acyclic uterine bleeding

These phenomena are observed in the intervals between normal menstruations with a clearly established cycle. This kind of bleeding from the uterus can be the result of myomas, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and so on. As a rule, acyclic blood loss is not considered a pathology, but a doctor's advice is still worth receiving.

Anovulatory uterine bleeding

Bleeding at menopause

Uterine bleeding after menstruation

This phenomenon is caused by some gynecological disease and requires an immediate examination with a doctor. Bleeding, as a rule, lasts for a maximum of 1-3 days and comes on average two weeks after the main cycle.

Hypotonic uterine bleeding

Its causes are the low tone of the myometrium, the remains of the fetal egg in the uterus after abortion and so on. Appears hypotonic bleeding, mainly in different postpartum periods, and requires immediate treatment.
