Surgical menopause

Surgical menopause means the onset of menopause as a result of removal of the ovaries, uterus or both. In surgical menopause, HRT is used - hormone replacement therapy. This need arises if the uterus is removed along with the ovaries. But if only the uterus is removed, and the ovaries are functioning, then there is no unambiguous opinion regarding the administration of such drugs. This is due to the fact that in many women the ovaries are able to function before the onset of menopause in a natural way.

But approximately 20 percent of women after such an operation ovaries cease to produce hormones. This may be due to their violation during surgery. Therefore, HRT in the surgical menopause is necessary to alleviate climacteric symptoms.

Consequences of surgical menopause

After the removal of the internal genital organs in some women in the first days after the operation there is a strong sweating, frequent hot flashes, palpitations.
