Does the cat need to be wet?
If a cat has a cold and wet nose, this indicates that it is healthy and feels fine. In some cases, a warm wet nose in a cat is also a norm, for example, if she just woke up or was actively running and playing.
Dry nose - this is the result of dehydration, low air humidity, increased body temperature. Wet nose in the cat remains so due to the secretion of the mucous membrane, or when licking, if the secret is not enough. When the cat is asleep, her nose dries up and becomes warm - this is no reason to worry. Already after a small amount of time, it will again become moist and cool.
If you notice that the cat's nose remains dry and hot for a long time, you should look for other symptoms of its poor health. For example, she is sluggish and badly eats. These signs clearly say that the cat is not well.
Too wet nose
Sometimes a cat's nose is not just wet, but there are also discharge from it. They can be clear and watery, and can have a consistency of thick mucus. In some cases, the cat can have blood from the nose. This can be caused by the following reasons:
- infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract;
- fungal or bacterial infections;
- a tumor of the nasal cavity;
- foreign objects in the nasopharynx;
- head injury;
- allergy ;
- pneumonia;
- cleft palate;
- tooth abscess.
and other painful conditions.
Colds are usually accompanied by sneezing and coughing. In any case, it is better to show the cat to the veterinarian in order to determine the exact cause and correctly treat it.
