Cervical cap

Cervical cap refers to barrier female contraceptives. It is a small bowl-shaped object, which is usually made of latex or plastic. It is put directly on the cervix, and thus prevents the entry of spermatozoa into the uterine cavity.

What is the effectiveness of this method?

According to statistics, in about 98 out of 100 cases when using this contraceptive, pregnancy does not occur. It is because of this high efficiency that this method is very popular with women.

How to use the cervical (vaginal) cap correctly?

It is worth noting that to use this tool a woman must first contact a gynecologist for advice and size selection. In addition, there are several designs of this device for contraception, which are also selected taking into account the anatomical features of the female genital organ.

The cap is inserted by the woman independently, according to the instructions and given recommendations of the doctor for its installation. Before doing so, you should wash your hands thoroughly. If the cap is used together with the spermicidal agent, it is injected directly into the bowl, filling it up to 1/3. You can enter the contraceptive both standing and lying, but many gynecologists advise to sit down while squatting (so it's easier for a woman to feel the cervix). The cap is squeezed between the thumb and forefinger, as if doubling, and injected as deeply as possible. At the same time, it is necessary to press its rim to the neck itself, so that it is completely covered. In order to check this after installation, it is enough to press lightly on the dome of the cap.

According to the instructions for use, the cervical cap does not need to be removed immediately. A woman can leave it on the neck for up to 40 hours, after which the contraceptive is necessarily removed. After that, it is washed, treated with disinfectant and then dried. Most often, the cap is stored in a dark place in a solution of boric acid.

Where can I buy a cervical cap and what is the price for them?

It is worth noting that the cost of such a contraceptive directly depends on the manufacturer, modification. On average, the price of caps varies between 15-75 dollars. Most often, after a physical examination, a doctor recommends a specific type of this remedy, prescribes a prescription. In private clinics, as a rule, they offer services not only for selection, sale, but also training for proper use.
