So, dates are fruits that grow on some species of date palm. For the first time dates appeared in the hot countries of the Middle East and North Africa. In ancient times, dates grew in the areas where today Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Tunisia are located . However, the Indians believe that the dates first appeared on their lands. And many scholars are inclined to think that the ancient land of dates is ancient Mesopotamia.

Today, dates can be found growing, except for eastern countries, in Australia, Mexico, the United States. And even on the Black Sea coast of Russia, date palms grow, but so abundantly as in the tropics, the trees here do not bear fruit.

Dates can often be found on the shelves of our shops and markets. But not everyone knows how the dates grow and how they are collected.

How does the date begin to grow?

Growing in the natural conditions of hot climate date palm tree - a tree up to 30 m high with beautiful pinnate leaves, whose length can reach 5 m. To collect fruits from such a tall tree, workers climb onto the palm, cut the clusters of dates and lower them to the ground, where then they are dried.

As practice shows, the date grows well at home. However, the plant grown at home will not bear fruit, although some dates can even blossom indoors.

If you decide to grow a date palm in your home, then you can do it by planting a stone in the ground. It should be noted that only the stone from the fetus, which was not subjected to heat treatment, is suitable for planting.

The date bone must be cleaned before rinsing and rinsed well. After that, it is advisable to slightly dry it in the air. Some try to accelerate the germination of the stone, but this will happen by itself, maybe a little longer. It is better to plant a few bones, and to increase the likelihood of emergence. At the bottom of the tank, lay the drainage layer, as the date palm does not tolerate water stagnation. The soil must consist of clay, humus, leaf land, peat and sand in equal proportions.

When planting, the bone is vertically deepened into the ground by approximately one and a half lengths. The earth in the container with the date bone should be constantly slightly moist. In 1-3 months on the place of planted bones, the sprouts seem to be. When they grow to 10-15 cm, plants should be transplanted into separate, not very wide containers. The main thing is that the pots should be deep enough, because during this period the seedling begins to actively grow roots.

Transplant the date palm should be annually for the first 5 years, with each time you should slightly increase the size of the pot. The method of transplanting a palm tree is only transshipment, since the plant has fragile roots. A container with an overgrown palm should be placed in a bright place away from devices of heating. In summer, the palm tree will feel good in the fresh air.

The date palm likes moistened air, so you can spray it in the summer even several times a day. As often as possible, wipe the leaves of the palm with a damp cloth, which will improve the appearance of the tree and add moisture to it. The date plant perfectly feels even in direct sunlight. The only thing that needs to be done in this case is to regularly turn the palm tree so that it will form a beautiful uniform crown.

In the summer months, the date palm requires abundant watering, in winter the demand for water is reduced to a minimum.
